QMplus Development and Plugin Request Tracker

Overview

This page displays a list of QMplus requests. All QMUL staff have access to this list, and have the ability to make a request. You must be logged into QMplus and enrolled on this module in order to submit your request or to add comments to an existing request.

Submitting a Request

Before submitting a request, please follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that you are logged into QMplus and that you click on the 'enrol me button'.
  2. Check the list of requests below. If a similar request has been made it is better to vote for this request to be given priority by selecting 'High Priority' from the 'Rate' options. You can also add a comment to a request if you would like to include any feedback or supporting arguments for the development.
  3. Read the QMplus development and plugin requests policy
  4. To submit a new request, please click on the 'Add a new entry' link or button.
  5. Under 'Concept' add a short title of your request/development and under 'Definition' add more details e.g. issue or ticket number about your request. Select the categories the request falls under and add any attachments e.g. screenshots if needed.

The E-Learning Unit will review all requests and your request will be added to the list below. Priority will be given depending on the impact of the development (for example, how many users across the University will benefit from this piece of work). The more feedback we receive (by comments and ratings), the higher we can give priority to a particular item. Your feedback will help towards determining what should be given priority.

"Find an expert" plugin for QMPlus Hub/Mahara

by Gill Ritchie - Tuesday, 8 March 2016, 9:38 AM

A way to expand the "Networking" features of QMplus Hub - it would be interesting to allow people to put searchable tags/keywords into their QMplus Hub profiles which other users could use when searching for people on The Hub.  e.g. "e-learning" or "clickers" This would help people to find others with similar interests and increase the networking potential of the system.

Ability to bulk upload feedback files without caring about the original submission filename

by Gill Ritchie - Thursday, 16 June 2016, 2:26 PM

Currently the bulk upload of feedback files on the Qmplus assignment relies on the feedback files having exactly the same name as the student submission file.  It would be more useful if this feature allowed the feedback files to have any name.

Adding Office Mix as an external tool

by Gill Ritchie - Monday, 21 March 2016, 7:57 PM

Office Mix is a free plugin for Powerpoint which allows the creation of interactive content in Powerpoint e.g. screencasting, quizzes, video etc.  "Mixes" can be made accessible through QMplus via the "external tool" activity.

As we have an institutional Microsoft account, all staff (and perhaps students too?) potentially have access to this free tool and it may be of great use in learning in teaching.  It would be good to at least find out.  Could we investigate what the potential is?

Further information on Office Mix can be found here:

https://mix.office.com/en-us/Home

Instructions for setting up Mix as an external tool for Moodle are here:

by Alysa Bramble - Thursday, 20 August 2015, 3:47 PM

There is a need to have a more devolved administrator role for staff within schools

Allocation form

by Karin Fernandes - Thursday, 24 September 2015, 4:04 PM

The Allocation form can be used to provide students with more than one choice (e.g., “choose three workshops from the following selection”) and/or to have students allocated to their choices fairly based on the overall choices/preferences made by all students. Students make their choices, which can include a choice that they definitely don’t want and once all choices are made, the form is processed.

Anonymous Download of Assignment - Enhancement

by Alysa Bramble - Thursday, 14 April 2016, 7:02 PM

Filenames as they stand are a bit unwieldy;

It seems to me that the unwieldiness of the present text is pretty much down to the redundant system words which it contains.

My suggestion, would be for the long filenames to be reduced to '[username]-[uploaded filename]'. This would yield: 'cb15188-cb15188_ESH275_2.docx'.

ARCHIVE WRITE ACCESS FOR TEACHERS (WITH VIEWER ACCESS)

by Alysa Bramble - Thursday, 1 October 2015, 4:16 PM

Some teachers are unable to edit their courses on the 2014/15 archive.

The issue is that students and those with the viewer role have been given a read-only role on the archive. This means that anyone who had viewer rights on their course area previously will no longer be able to edit their course on the archive.

This is an issue if a teacher was given both teacher and viewer roles on their course area, as the archive read-only role overrides the teacher role. There is a need to change this so that the teacher role overrides the read-only role. This requires further investigation.

ASSIGNMENT DOWNLOAD ANONYMITY (Delivered)

by Alysa Bramble - Tuesday, 1 March 2016, 4:32 PM

QM+ allows teachers to download a batch of assignments as a zip file, but it includes the student’s name as well as their ID number in the filename - this removes the anonymity. It would be really wonderful if the file could come with their ID number only.

by Alysa Bramble - Tuesday, 1 March 2016, 4:34 PM

Students submit an assignment, then delete the file. Request: either (i) the uploaded file should not be permanently deleted, or (ii) the assignment 'Submission status' following this series of steps should revert to the default 'No attempt' (or something similar).

ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION EMAIL TEXT UPDATE

by Alysa Bramble - Tuesday, 15 September 2015, 10:01 AM

Could we modify the email to make it a clear it's from QMplus. Maybe just at the end "from the QMplus Team" and maybe a link to some help?

Currently it reads:

ASSIGNMENT: ABILITY TO DOWNLOAD A SUBSET

by Alysa Bramble - Friday, 18 September 2015, 3:25 PM

There doesn't seem a be a way to download only a subset of assignment submissions. I can see how to download all assignments. This feature would be useful when schools want to divide up the grading of assignments between several teachers.

Auditing report in Grades

by Rume Begum - Monday, 17 August 2015, 2:35 PM

Some users would like to see an 'Auditing Report' in Grades available. This would be a report like Grader Report (which presents students' names and values across assignments) that also permits users to click through to the 'Audit History' for given values.

Auto-create groups function not working correctly

by Gill Ritchie - Friday, 2 October 2015, 11:12 AM

In the auto-create groups function in a course area, it should be possible to select a role from the "Select members with role" drop down list.  At the moment, this drop-down list only displays "All".  This means it is currently not possible to auto-create groups that contain only students.

Block add HTML template block allowing custom edits from course pages

by Rumi Begum - Wednesday, 22 June 2016, 3:30 PM

Add a HTML block across a category of modules and allow edits from a specific module page to be reflected only on that specific module page and not the whole category of courses.

Book Activity - Ability to drag and drop chapters, to reorder them

by Rume Begum - Friday, 18 September 2015, 3:26 PM

Ability to drag and drop chapters to reorder them - as currently it is only possible to click on the 'up/down' arrows multiple times. In moodle books where there are lots of chapters and the content has been completely reorganised, it can be very labour intensive to recognise the content.

BULK ENROLMENT (Delivered)

by Alysa Bramble - Thursday, 20 August 2015, 3:43 PM

Staff want to be able to add their own users and group enrolment data via bulk uploads. This is possible for administrators but not for teaching staff and course administrators.

UPDATE: This feature is now available to all teaching staff and is located under Course Administration > Users > Enrolment Methods.

Bulk Guest Access

by Rumi Begum - Wednesday, 4 November 2015, 12:15 PM

It would be helpful to have bulk guest access function to allow staff to

  • apply guest access across a category of courses
  • remove guest access across a category of courses
