Founders & Coders – Summer Coding Workshops.

 

In partnership with QMUL Faculty of Science & Engineering we are pleased to bring Founders & Coders to campus for two distinct workshops designed to help penultimate year students in the QMUL Faculty of Science & Engineering to develop their coding skills.

 

Workshop 1: Web APIs.

10am - 5pm - 13 - 17 June 2016

 

During this five day course you will get an introduction to GitHub and the command Line and to publishing web pages using GitHub Pages. Debugging with Chrome DevTools, Postman and CodePen. How to use JavaScript to access remote data from a Web page. Explanation of all the acronyms: APIs, REST, AJAX, DOM, HTTP, XHR, and JSON. Exploration of a number of APIs, including Google, TfL, and Reddit. Introduction to data visualisation with D3.

Workshop 2: Test-driven development and paired programming with JavaScript.

 

10am - 5pm - 20 - 24 June 2016

 

During this five day course you will get and introduction to GitHub and the command Line. What is TDD and why is it useful? What is the red/green/refactor cycle and why is it important? What is unit testing? What is continuous integration and what are its benefits? Deepen your knowledge of programming in JavaScript using test-driven development.
