The module examines the law and legal policies relating to privacy, data protection and information security, particularly in the context of distributed computer networks such as the internet, the rationale and regulatory logic of such laws and policies and the technological challenges faced by such laws and policies as well. The primary focus of the course is the current legal infrastructure that governs the protection of privacy and legal obligations in relation to information security in various jurisdictions, including China, the EU, the US, and others, in particular and its practical implications for global and cross border electronic commerce businesses.
